The Town That Dreaded Sundown - Yay Netflix!

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

This is not the mockumentary original. This is the 2014 effort.

Not terrible, but could have been much, much better.

I'd describe the film as "confused". It didn't know what it wanted to be and everything got jumbled.

Too many flashbacks, too many clips from the previous film added randomly, too many characters (all the scenes with the cops could have been removed and the film would have been unaffected), etc.

Basically, just too much everything.

Throw in a Scream 2ish ending (the reveal is very anti-climatic) and you have a crappy effort.

On the plus side, the main girl is cute, which is always a bonus. The kills are decent, and they really nail the killer. His look and how he's portrayed is the best part of the movie. For a guy wearing a burlap sack, you get the impression he's genuinely pissed off and ultra violent. Oh, and they're more faithful to the actual killings than the previous film...but they're also faithful to the previous film, so...

If you liked the original, and it's a classic, you should enjoy this movie, but like me, you'll wish it had been better.

The original is a good film. A bit dated now, and it's VERY loosely based on the actual events. Still, it's a classic.
