Most iconic movies by state

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Really? The Notebook?

Nevermind: Iron Man 3, The Last of the Mohicans, Dirty Dancing, Bull Durham, The Hunger Games, The Color Purple, The Green Mile, or any of 800 other movies shot in NC, we get the fucking Notebook?

Fargo was attributed to a different state.

Fargo was attributed to a different state.

Yeah, but it was fucking filmed in Minnesota. I live rather close to where the car dealership used to be. It's now Best Buy HQ.

EDIT: Winter's Bone? What the fuck is that movie? I'm not exactly a film slouch and I've never heard of it.
Winter's Bone is a 2010 American independent drama film, an adaptation of Daniel Woodrell's 2006 novel of the same name. Written and directed by Debra Granik, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence as a teenaged girl in the rural Ozarks of the central United States who, to protect her family from eviction, must locate her missing father. The film explores the interrelated themes of close and distant family ties, the power and speed of gossip, self-sufficiency, and poverty as they are changed by the pervasive underworld of illegal methamphetamine labs.

Ah, chick flick. That's why. That beats Planes, Trains, and Automobiles?

These maps, created by HotelsCombined, attempt to break down the most iconic films shot in each state in the U.S.

According to wikipedia
Principal photography on Fargo began on January 25, 1995 in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. However, due to the region's unusually mild winter that year, the crew moved locations on March 9 to Hallock, Minnesota to find more suitably snow-covered landscapes for the film's winter setting. A second unit under the direction of Roger Deakins filmed near Bathgate, North Dakota where the film's Paul Bunyan statue was constructed.[10] In some scenes, artificial snow had to be created as pools and streams of meltwater are visible.[citation needed] Despite the film's title, no scenes were filmed in or near Fargo, North Dakota.

So technically it was filmed in North Dakota, but primarily in Minnesota, so that thing is just wrong.

For the record: Fargo > Mallrats > Purple Rain

None would suck to be assigned to your state though.

Did anyone else notice Jumanji is in there?

Those movies are so different from each other that I think it is unfair to compare them.

Jumanji was like the first Robin Williams movie where his charm was lost on me because I was becoming older and cynical. At 24.

Well, I was also an active duty Marine. Not the audience for that flick.

I was in college when I saw it. I saw it in the theatre, not long after coming back from Mexico. It was so awesome I watched it twice. It was a fun kids movie, and I loved the animals and the flooding, etc. I need to share it with my children some day.

My kid has seen it, but he became self-aware of movies during Avengers: Phase 1 and other flicks... well, you know.

Because the hundred or so scattered throughout northern Minnesota didn't work?
