Rich people in movies

Why is it that when rich people on TV go to rich people functions like the party at the country club, or the rich guy sold a company and has all their rich friends over, there is always a lame-ass band with muted horns and shit playing really old music that no one under 80 could possibly remember when it's new, and everyone is acting like it isn't a super lame-ass party?

I think it's to represent that its old money.

Dramatically: "We've been through so much together!"

Narrator ~ they got through high school
