Google/Alphabet

Google buys half of HTC.

Remember when they bought Motorola, then decided that was dumb, and sold Motorola?

They need to get better at hardware, but I don't understand why they didn't just follow through with Moto?

I thought they bought Moto just for the patents?

Well, they bought the entire thing. Then sold off most of it to Lenovo, but yes, kept the patents.

Late to the party on this one. My wife's brother worked for Motorola in their North Burbs office (like, Waukegan or something). He has a nice house in a nice middle-class subdivision in what used to be a cornfield less than years ago. Literally five minute drive from work.

Google buys Moto and decides to move everybody into a hip downtown office, like on the Miracle Mile or something. So now he's got a 2-hour train commute, but there's wifi and hey, he works for Google! Bennies and perks!

Anyway. I believe he actually does OK and gets to work on cool stuff. Just a bitch of a commute.

Fiber's back, it was an upstream provider that went down, wires cut, not other word on why/how they were cut.

I got switched from Roadrunner to Spectrum, in the rebrand, or whatever it was.

Suddenly I am seeing micro-outtages when for 10 years I never did.

If it works as well as Google Translate does (I used it a few times in Peru when there were words I was not familiar with in Spanish), that'd be awesome. Real-time translation is funky to watch.

Turns out Big Mac does it that way, according to a video clip someone posted.

And what about this one?

I think the question is why is there a gap between the beer and the foam?

Because the people working at Google are too young to drink and/or too socially awkward to actually see what a beer served at a bar looks like?
