Finished the trade quest line. Got my large farm(it's 4x small farms). Took a bunch of pics of playing this weekend and i'll try to make a step-by-step post with them later.

Did all crafting/building/trading stuff this weekend.

I also got into the crafting/trading part of the game this weekend. It was a little more difficult not having a farm to plant my goods though. I did find a pretty well hidden place that was hidden from the world and it worked for most of the weekend, until last night. I logged off and this morning i wanted to gather it up and someone ripped me off! i reported this guy of his thievery! so it will eventually show up on his crime report when he gets caught and gets put on trial.

Also, i had my first run in with PvP. As far as i knew i was in a non PvP zone, i had been in the area many times before but never seen a "red" running through there. He come flying off the shore and was at about 25% health. Me and two other guys immediatley took chase, i think the others fell off pretty quickly because i was the only one chasing him after a little chase. I was on my mount and plucking at him with arrows, he had a glider so he was able to get away for a bit but i would track him down. I guess he had enough of the chase and decided to fight me 1v1. I had troubles getting off my mount and getting a good look at him to do my normal rotation of attacks. He was a couple levels above me but at pretty low healt. He was a mage, and he insta-stunned me and walloped my ass in no time! I thought for sure i had him, if i coulda gotten the first attack in i woulda done much better.

Here's my beta 4 write up. I got better with the print screen.

I had enough currency to get a house this go around, so I placed the smallest house construction plot and my small farm in a Region near the PVP border and near the city from previous posts. I chose a house spot on the cliffs near the regions specialty workbench - where trade packs can be made. For the small house, it's 1 pack of stone, another stone, and finally a wood pack.

I had been tree foraging pretty well, so was good on wood. But had to mine a while for the stone, I did have the full 5k labor built up from inactivity and it was like printing money. Sold the extra stone for a flock of sheep to pasture in the small farming area that ringed my new house:

I continued the trade quest line - which requires 3-4 more safe in-land trades. Did the main quest line for Gilda currency.

Found a huge public tree farm in White Arden:

Some weird pinecone looking things:

The last and most most rewarding trade line quest runs out with a minor suicide mission. A cross continent trade run that requires you to deliver a trade pack through the straight between continents, out on open water. Everyone has a rowboat, but these things are sitting ducks - you can't even defend yourself if you are attacked.

I pondered for a day while I collected the resources and planned the route. Finally, early monday morning before work I made the trade pack and went for it:

Image

I didn't meet any hostile players on my way in(my choice of time helped), but it was hairy. I got attacked twice by a level 50 jelly fish and almost lost it all. Butt clenching moment. But I did make the dock:

The reward was a large farm plot. It's 2x2 small farm plots. Takes one wood pack to construction, which took another day to grow and buy. You can still place the design though, and I quickly placed it like an asshole and took up as much nearby housing space as possible:

Image

I have another pvp story for tomorrow of my second trade run. short story was I stealthed up to deliver the trade pack and then ate a cannon ball.

We started on different continents, so we'd be enemies. Also it's beta.

Forgot this "view from my front door" pic

Leisher and I played togther a bit during the first closed beta, but i didn't see him on for the last one. And being that Troy was on a whole other continent we weren't going to be able to help each other out, at least not in the early stages.

I'll definetely be playing this game when it goes live and since we will all be starting over i'm sure we will make sure to start on the same continent. Not sure if ill get founders pack right off the bat, but Troy will have it for the first 30 days and we can work together to get a house and farms built.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I had option to set the large farm as a "guild" farm.

So even if you weren't paying you could still use it.

Biggest thing you'll get from pre-ordering is the "headstart" thing.

I played up to level 18 in the beta this weekend.

Pretty fun. I'll probably play more after launch. But probably not very often.

This game seems like one where you could put in 5-10 hours a week and still have a good time. You can play your farmville type game whenever you can 30m-an hour a day, gathering materials and crafting.

However, when it was time to turn the materials into cash, we'd need to group together and push into the pvp zones. Would make for a good dynamic.

Here's the thing though, the one time you would probably NEED to put in some time is THIS FRIDAY + this weekend. Head-start day is officially Friday around 1pm Eastern.

That housing space is going to go fast. I put my house in that great spot, and when I logged on late last night I saw that I now live in prime real estate in a player town that sprung up on the shore line. So many people + construction zones. It's all been wiped now, though.

They are going to make money on this game by charging for housing permits/licenses. You can only buy these through the in game marketplace, I'm not sure on the exact amounts, but it seemed it would cost me about $1 a week in permits to keep my three plots of land from getting demolished. It's exponential, so 4 plots would be more, 5 would be crazy, etc.

Running the early quest lines to get the house and farm plots down would probably take 3-5 hours. Then you could chill and do it at your own pace.

unfortunantly i didn't get to play this weekend for open beta. But i will definetely be playing when it starts next week.

Those of us that plan on playing should decide what faction to be in. This way we can help each other out even if we aren't on at the same time. Troy will be able to build a house and farms and he can give us permission to use them and work together to gather, craft, grow whatever we want.

Just curious TPR, what class did you end up playing?

Launch is this Friday for those that bought the founders packs. Its the 4 day headstart that you get for being a founder. The rest of us can play starting on the 16th, which is when i will be on.

And i have been reading differing opinions on how fast housing plots will go. I think prime spots will go fast for sure. but i don't think that it will be that much of an issue to find a spot. Also, there are more popular servers than the one we play on Ollo.

Oh, right, I forgot about that.

Everyone good with the Western Faction? That means elf or human. I'll shoot to grab some prime real estate in "Two Crowns"

This game did not pull me in the way it did you guys, but I still have it installed. Willing to give it another go once the game is live.

I don't see it pulling us in like Rust or UO did. Not sure if that means it'll get old after a short while or not.

But, the base game seemed fun enough that I'm willing to rush for some real estate, and then see how it goes.

Can you sell your real estate on ebay? I made about 2k doing that in UO. Was awesome. Could be a way to cash out when you are done playing.

As far as I know, yep. They make sure they get a cut by requiring an "assessment" license to trade houses between players. Not sure on the conversion, but maybe 1-2 bucks?

Archer with Healing as secondary, Eastern Continent, the not-furry race

I had a third skill group but never put anything in it so don't remember what I picked. Fighting was very easy mode, just a few arrow skills then one sword slash for every enemy I fought.
