I put up my wife and mine used phones for auction. They both sold Wednesday night. It's close to Christmas, so want to make sure they get out before Christmas.

Get a note from one buyer Wednesday night "I'll buy it tomorrow"... Cuz of course, eBay doesn't require people to actually PAY for the items they "buy."

This morning, get an email from the douche "Yeah, I decided to buy something else instead"

Fucker.

Buyer #2 still hasn't contacted me or paid.

I know this can be avoided with Buy-It-Now and using fixed priced shipping (the only conditions under which eBay will make someone pay immediately), but I wasn't quite sure what the phones were worth.

Grrr. Fucking eBay. Or people, not sure which is to blame, maybe both.
It's not me, it's someone else.

People.

A bunch of years ago I sold a large appliance using the local newspaper (CL was not big in that town back then). Ad cost me $30 or something like that. Next day, had a buyer, lady said she would pick it up and pay in 2 days. I told 3 other interested parties that the item was already sold... yes, my mistake. I didn't know she was going to talk to her son and change her mind and not even bother calling me back forcing me to follow up with her. Cunt.

It's people that suck.

Yeah, that's just an asshole at fault, not eBay itself. Report him for non-payment, and when he gets some of those his account will be cut off. Plus eBay will let you relist the item without paying further fees, IIRC.

I hate ebay because of the nickle and diming you to death. I had a few kid toys to sell a few years ago... set them at a reasonable price, set shipping for a reasonable price, and once ebay was done with their fees I made like a dollar. Just not worth my time.

I love buying on eBay.
I've only sold one thing, and that was a remote control car maybe 15 years ago (I still lived in CA).
I had to deposit $10 with eBay, of which they took $2.XX for fees, as the guy paid with a certified check.

Ever since then eBay has sent me statements saying that I have a $7.XX credit with them.
It's kind of annoying.

So, before long he won't be able to do it to anyone else. Besides, what are you doing allowing bids from unestablished bidders? The few times I've sold something on eBay anyone with less than 100 had to contact me first or I'd cancel their bid.

It's not a great system, but it mostly works.

That sounds like more work than this should be.
