This can be merged with a master Mouse thread if you want.

I got two different mice to try out, as mentioned in the other thread.

I'm going with the G9. Even over my old G5. I REALLY liked the shape of the G5. By far. But, I got used to the shape of the G9 pretty quickly. The best thing about the G9 is the mouse wheel. I had no idea how much difference a wheel could make, till I tried this one. Using the wheel on this mouse compared to other mice is like comparing the Ipods circle thing to using other MP3 players. The other MP3 players are easy to use and functional, but the Ipod still kicks their ass. That's this mouse wheel.

The Wheel has two modes. Free spin and not free clicky spin. Free spin is good for viewing web pages and stuff. A flick of the finger and off to the bottom of the page you go. The clicky not free spinning is good for gaming. But it's a very easy spin, with the clicky parts being solid enough that you don't over spin and switch to the wrong weapon. It's a VERY nice wheel.

The DPI/speed button is on top of the mouse, pretty much like the G5. It has 5 speeds though, instead of the 3 that the G5 had. It also stores different profiles (all with unique DPI settings) that can be switched using a button under the mouse. Those settings are also stored on the mouse. So, perhaps, the profiles/speeds go with the mouse, thus not needing to load the mouse software. Have not verified that yet.

It has the weights like the G5. I make mine heavy. It also has two covers. They are slightly different and I prefer the smooth one.

Very nice mouse, and a good upgrade from my G5.

However, I only got this mouse because I broke the wheel on my G5. Upgrading from the G5 to the G9 wouldn't be worth the expense, because it's not THAT much better, in my opinion. However, choosing between buying another G5, or paying extra for the G9, it's worth paying extra. Definately. If you are looking for a gaming mouse, I highly recommend this one.

The other mouse (Lachisis or something like that) I tried a Copperhead (old version of this mouse) and didn't like it at all. The side buttons were down under a lip on the mouse on the right side, and I couldn't reach them without breaking my pinky, or taking my fingers off of buttons 1 and 2. Dumb. Then, on the other side, my thumb was constantly clicking the side buttons when I didn't want to. The over all way you have to hold the mouse, button placements, etc made no sense to me. It has other features, but didn't get into them because it was just a dumb mouse. On the other hand, it won all kinds of gaming awards and stuff. No idea why. So, maybe it's just me. But, whatever. The G9 kicks it's ass, says me.

About 3-4 months ago, my G9 stopped working. Sad day in my gaming career. Love the mouse. Did some research and it's a common enough problem that Logitech acknowledges it and replaces mice still under warranty. The mouse has a 3 year warranty, so I wasn't in a rush to get mine replaced. Too lazy. My G5 mouse is still a good mouse after all. With my son's Razor mouse breaking down, he decided to call Logitech about my G9. After a short conversation about my laser light not being there, Logitech issued an RMA. I send mine back, and they send me a new mouse. Cool thing is, it's the new G9x mouse. I haven't checked out the differences yet. But, it's got an x. So it's GOT to be better!

Good job to Logitech for making a damn awesome mouse. Shame on Logitech for putting in shitty lasers. Props for Logitech admitting they did and replacing failed mice with little effort by the end user. Props to Logitech for including a 3 year warranty. Now I wish I had called them about my last headset that was shorting out in one ear because of the shitty super hair thin wire they used to connect it to the PC. Instead, I threw them out. MAYBE they would have been covered too.

I love Logitech. They're my exclusive brand for mice, keyboards, and remote controls. And so far they've never let me down in the slightest.

I like Logitech, and have often owned their stock (LOGI) because I think they are a well-run company.

The only problem I've had is my last Harmony 880 remote. The charger station broke, so I asked for a replacement. It was out of warranty, so I was willing to buy, etc. Well, for whatever reason, they couldn't replace that, and sent me a complete refurb unit, at no cost. Which sounds good, except it wasn't completely fixed, and every once in a while, if you put it in a certain position, it reboots, forgetting what activity you were on. I seem to have gotten to the point where I dont do that position much, and it's easy enough to work around, but would have been nice to just get the charging cradle alone replaced.
It's not me, it's someone else.

Found a good deal on the Logitech MX510. I like it so far.

Used it all weekend and my mouse here at work feels clunky and weird by comparison.
