Crime in general peaked in thee 80's/early 90s... but this is wild

My theory was: Interstates, and then DNA testing.

They're still out there, but I think they're getting caught much easier AND getting away with more. Not the same ones, of course.

I think we're able to spot traits of a serial killer much quicker than in the past. Cameras, cell phones, etc. also make it super easy to be caught early on. Many SKs had stumbles in their first kills or didn't even know they loved the kill until after their first one. Many SKs should have been caught early on, but the tech and knowledge didn't exist to get them.

I would wager money that some of today's SKs became mass shooters instead.

I think they're still out there though. It wouldn't shock me if within our lifetime we find out there's been a SK out there murdering without using the same MO or taunting the MSM.

My wife went to jury duty today, no word if selected yet or not.

She appears to be in the jury pool for a trial where the accused is accused of: resisted arrest, assaulted a police officer, twice violated a domestic violence restraining order, and threatened a court official. 3 of the crimes were from 2020, and another from 2022.

Reading the history, it's just a bunch of continuances, motions, etc. Hearings, arraignments, etc for 4 years. Seriously, why are we wasting so many people's time and efforts on people like this?

I'm on the list this year. They sent a questionnaire, stuff like "are there any dates you have flights, any reasons you shouldn't serve on a jury," etc.

I responded, "I have a general distrust of the police and government, in general."

Apparently that wasn't enough to keep me out of the pool. Got called up, but the trial was cancelled the day before.

Oh man I can't wait to get interviewed by counsel.

Wife went, they called 50 people for the first trial... and they sat the 12 people out of the first 16 and she got to go home.

Yet, it still took until 4pm.

OK, curious: How many "run ins" with the police have you had? "Run ins" is a bit up to interpretation, but you were clearly doing something bad/wrong, etc.

My wife asked me this weekend. She's had Zero. I've, uh... I dunno, around 10? Nothing major, half were traffic violations.

We want to hear about the other half.

I have had countless run ins with the law when I did something wrong, but that's dads for you.

-I remember two high school parties where police arrived. I did not stick around to directly interact with them though.
-I've been in one accident where police responded. It was minor.
-I've been pulled over twice for speeding. My tits didn't get me out of either ticket, which is blatant sexism.
-Almost hit a cop who was speeding and he followed me into a parking lot, glared at me, I rolled down my window and said, "I never saw you", and he drove off. It was a blind turn and I didn't. He either accepted his role in it or was too lazy to mess with me.
-Had a rookie SP halt me after waving me through to my base. He thought he nailed me on driving with an open container. It was a caffeine free Pepsi and the can was gold back then. He was embarrassed.
-There was an incident senior year that involved some vandalism. I was in the back of the SUV doing doughnuts in the field, not driving. Someone called us in, cops came, we ended up having to manually repair the field.
-Another party at a hotel and a fight broke out. There were two of us and 6 of them. I jumped over the second floor balcony to my car to grab the lower half of a pool cue I kept in my car. My dad had removed it earlier that day without me knowing. I ran back up and resolved things differently. Cop was in the lot watching everything. He knew my dad and called him. 6 months or so later and I was in basic training.

Nothing too exciting.

You know, I didn't count anything like that.

Didn't count those either.

Drugs, drinking, vandalism, computer hacking... the usual.

I'd be in favor of passing some laws that hold judges responsible when they let violent offenders walk to commit more crime. I know there would need to be a lot of safeguards in place, but we need something.

So sick and tired of career criminals committing all the crime. I think that guy in NC who murdered the Ukrainian woman had been arrested 37 times or some shit? I personally know someone who had 23 DUIs (his license was gone after 5). We posted an article here somewhere about how 90% of shoplifting in NYC is done by the same 200 hundred or so people. And this list goes on forever.
