Wow, so harsh. /sNorth Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham said he regrets that the Tar Heels ridiculed Clemson fans on the video board during the Tigers' 21-20 victory at Kenan Stadium on Saturday.
During a timeout, a handful of Clemson fans were shown on the video board with overlaying comments suggesting they were bandwagon fans.
Among the digs: "Thinks That Clemson Is in Georgia," "Can't Name Clemson's Last Head Coach," "Also a Patriots Fan" and "Thinks 'The Fridge' Is Just a Kitchen Appliance."

Gene Smith (OSU's AD) comes out against the Fair Pay to Play Act and is a key member of the team trying to find solutions.
I believe the kids should make ALL the money for their names and likenesses. However, it should be through deals with the schools so there is regulation and the playing field is level.
One of the areas where the CA law goes wrong is in allowing players to sign with agents. You're basically setting kids up to be preyed upon at that point.
So, for example:
1. All conferences and schools sign deals with EA for college football/basketball games. Every player gets accurately portrayed (faces, skin tone, body size, etc.) and is paid a licensing fee per copy sold for participating.
1a. Additionally, the game is given different packaging for different regions (states? conferences?). This will help spread out the number of cover athletes who could/should earn a bonus. However, to prevent things like OSU, Bama, ND, Clemson, Texas, etc. dominating the covers, perhaps the covers can simply be the major conferences' logo in that region? This would prevent an unfair recruiting advantage. OSU wouldn't be able to tell recruits "One of our players gets the EA cover every year."
2. All jersey sales should be split between the school and the player whose jersey gets sold. The lion's share should still go to the school for all the overhead and licensing, but the player should see a fair amount of the sale.
2a. Posters and other products that use names and likenesses can be dealt with the same way.
3. Players should still be unable to sign with an agent until they declare for the draft.
I want to bitch slap the governor of CA for this bill so much, and all the selfish ignorant players on Lebron's show where it was signed into law. So fucking short sighted. This has the potential to absolutely devastate college athletics OUTSIDE of football and basketball because colleges will no longer be able to support them. UMich is definitely a more academically well-regarded school than OSU, but it's not like we're comparing UofM and WMU or CMU. That being said, I'd find it hard to believe that both schools don't use lower standards for athletes. OSU certainly seems to based on that article. Also, UofM is not Stanford or Duke, in any way.

The guy points all of that out. Although OSU's academic standards are tougher than I thought. They actually release their records and their football players, while 6 points lower on ACT scores than other OSU freshmen, were 3 points higher than the national average.
The whole article is basically pouring water on UM's claims of "our guys can play at Bama, but also get accepted to the Ivy League".
