That Miami-Duke game got the entire officiating crew (on field and off) suspended.

The site also notes that Barrett could be subject to a two-week suspension as part of Ohio State's athlete code of conduct since it's an alcohol-related offense and he's underage.
NCSU suspends player indefinitely for same offense.

To be fair, we don't know the details of the NCSU arrest. Dude might have been absolutely wrecked and resisted arrest or something.

Barrett blew just above the legal limit (and yes, he's underage), but didn't resist arrest or anything stupid. He's also been a model citizen other than this incident.

Plus, keep in mind we're the program that suspended our Heisman trophy candidate RB (Carlos Hyde) for a game not because he did anything wrong, but because he put himself in a situation that was bad.

But yeah, being a starting QB definitely helps lower your punishment.

Just found out Barrett has to attend mandatory counseling and lost his financial aid for next summer. And per school policy, Urban didn't have to suspend JT at all.

Also, Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Oklahoma, Washington, and Stanford have all done the one game suspension for DUI in recent years. So it's a standard.

I'm guessing the NC State guy has other issues.

NCSU has more stringent rules
Under university rules, students who get a DWI on or near campus are subject to semester suspension. Former football player Logan Winkles and former basketball player Staats Battle were recently punished accordingly for similar DWI charges.
If Richardson is suspended for the semester, he would be out for the rest of the regular season.

That seems excessive to me.

Did NCSU have a drunk driving tragedy in its past? That's a harsh penalty.

It's a damn death penalty compared to what the rest of the nation's colleges do.

Maybe it's just a relic of being in the south? We still have blue laws in some places. I'm not really sure. I couldn't easily google an answer. I wonder if that's just NCSU, or the entire UNC system?

The schools I listed were from a couple of different articles about how that's the standard in college football. So it has to be a NCSU thing.

Not far off from their rankings:
1. Clemson
2. LSU
3. OSU
4. Alabama
5. ND
6. Baylor

I'm not very surprised to see Bama #4, but ND #5? Really? Bullshit.

I had no issue with the top 3, but Bama being in is total bullshit.

It's SEC bias plain and simple. Look at last year's top 4 at this point which had 3!!!! SEC teams, NONE of which reached the final 4.

10 undefeated teams in the country (Toledo lost last night) and you're telling me that Bama and Notre Dame rank above 7 of them? Horseshit.

The best was when they were interviewing the spokesman for the committee and he basically said they look at Florida and Bama as having the same resume, yet Bama is 4 and Florida is 11. WTF?

I consider it their way of ensuring an SEC team will reach the final 4.

Notre Dame being there is confusing. They sent a clear message to the Big 12 that conference championships are needed, but Notre Dame isn't in a conference... If OSU makes it, please give us Notre Dame in the first round.

Meanwhile, the Pac12 is fucked.

OSU will probably climb in their ranking if they win out over undefeated #7 MSU, #12 Michigan, and undefeated #9 Iowa.

If Florida State or Duke/NC knock off Clemson the ACC is out. And hey, they talk about strength of schedule and there are only 2 ranked teams in the ACC. Why is Clemson #1? Just saying.

Doomed if...

BOOYAH!

Just got home from this game

Image

As a Redskins ticket holder for 10 years, it sure was nice to go to a game where I could see the team I was cheering for dominate.

So Clemson got by it's hardest game (I mean, except UNC in the ACC championship :D )... So ACC is looking good for a playoff spot.

MSU just got robbed by a shitty call. If the ACC officials got banned 2 weeks for the Miami / Duke game, these officials gotta get banned too.

Lesse... just need OSU, Alabama, OSU, Notre Dame, Iowa, Oklahoma, Florida, MSU, Baylor and TCU to lose 1 or 2 games from here on out, and UNC to beat Clemson in the ACC championship. Can we make that happen?

I'm not sure you need all that.

The Pac 12 is out.

The SEC is down to Bama and Florida. If Bama beats Florida, then Florida is out.

The ACC is all Clemson right now, but if NC beats them then NC joins the

The Big Ten is OSU and Iowa. OSU has the much tougher road with MSU and Michigan in the next two weeks. They can lose to MSU and still win the Big Ten, but if they lose to Michigan then 2 loss Michigan will play undefeated Iowa for the conference title.

The Big 12 is a bunch of 1 loss teams with bad losses and no conference championship.

Notre Dame still plays Stanford.

So what you really need is Bama to beat Florida, NC to beat Clemson, OSU to go undefeated, Notre Dame to lose to Standford, and maybe you'll be in? If all the Big 12 teams finish with 2 losses in this scenario, you're a lock.
