Again, I have an open ticket with PGI about the unit name issue. I'll let you know when I hear back on the issue. I've only received the automated "we got your email" response so far.
As for the XLs, yeah you need to research builds and really determine if you need it or not. Some mechs benefit from it, others not so much. I would suggest checking out popular builds for whatever chassis you're going with and either follow them or use them as a guide.
Even if you want to reinvent the wheel, use Smurfy's rather than doing it in game.

I was mixing up my mechs. It is a 3rd ER PPC I want to add to my Thunderbolt... to the Cat-K2 I need to add more AC5 ammo. I run out but I am at max weight. I was also able to dump almost all of my heat sinks when I got rid of all the lasers. I never, ever overheat that mech, now.

PGI replied and said, "It's probably because someone else is using that tag 'TKV'".
My response back was, "Are you telling me that's the issue or are you guessing?"
For someone whose PC is working, try creating a new group with a tag that we know exists and see if you get the same error.

According to PGI, "TKV" is taken. Is there a Knights of Valor or Virginity?
Also, names and tags get released with patches. So when you disbanded KOV you effectively made it unavailable to anyone until the next patch.
So we can either create something all new or we can wait until the next patch and see if TKV comes free, which seems doubtful, and/or go back to KOV which will come free.
