This is what Stranger and I were saying. Not that the DM would make you reveal anything more than what you said. Just that he could roll insight and, if successful, be told "You can tell he's lying or not telling you the full truth."

I just tried to update everyone's gold up to the end of session 7. Koban and Mordigan already had there's filled out - did you guys add the 10gp from the sale of the beer? Subtract 50gp for the two purchases you made last session?
Mordigan - you bought the Color Spray Scroll, and it's one of those scrolls that if you can read common you can attempt to use it. Color spray isn't OP like it used to be, but is a pretty cool one-shot spell to have up your sleeve. Maybe you should keep it?

I did not add that gold yet. The only gold I had added was the 15 my character originally had still on the sheet.

I haven't had a good handle on money looted, so have not made any notes on my sheet. If there are any, they are inaccurate. I spent 10 Plat on the potion and 50 gold on materials for the level first level spell. I still have to learn the one second level spell and that will be another 100 gold. I also got to know that cloak that night. We are now BFFs. I'm willing to share my cloak with Koban the next night so we can share it if the need comes up. Might as well have knowledge of the cloak in case you need it at some point.
That would be PERFECT if Mordigan asked for that scroll back! After all, HE was the victim in all of this!
I would like my STRONG objecting to charisma checks of any kind between PCs noted for the record!

An item can be attuned to only one creature at a time, and a creature can be attuned to no more than three magic items at a time. Any attempt to attune to a fourth item fails; the creature must end its attunement to an item first. Additionally, a creature can’t attune to more than one copy of an item. For example, a creature can’t attune to more than one Ring of Protection at a time.
Persuasion or Intimation, I agree.
Deception/Insight, I don't. I've seen that used a bunch.

I gave that scroll to Alex after I bought it. It's good to know that I can use them though, just as long as it's written in a language I can speak I take it?
I had 228g when we started the night. I added 50g when I sold the beer. Tipped the musicians 1g. So I ended up the night at 277g. The gold I got from the beer should be split up and we all receive 10g, so I should be at 237g.
And I can't wait until Alex puts on that mysteriously dark cloak and some evil entity brings harm upon our group..

I double checked. The scroll rules are split up between two different books and an errata. They don’t make it easy. I think the DM version of the rules is the latest so I’m supposed to use that.
A spell scroll bears the magical words of a single spell, written in a mystical cipher. Using an action to read the scroll allows you to cast the spell without components. If the spell written on the scroll appears on your class’s spell list, and the spell’s level is one that you can normally cast, you cast the spell successfully. Otherwise, you must make an Intelligence (Arcana) check to see if you can successfully cast it. The DC equals 10 plus the spell’s level. On a failed check, reading the scroll only consumes its magic with no other effect.

Does the GM initiate that roll or the player?
If the GM were to initiate it, then yes, I could see Cake's point. The GM would be taking it upon themselves to reveal the player is feeding you a line of shit.
However, if the player asks to do a deception/insight check then there's no issue. If they succeed the GM just says, "You get the feeling they're not telling you the truth" or something like that. The GM isn't then making the lying character reveal the truth, just telling the other character that they perceive some tells that usually indicate lying.

The GM is going to stay as far away from this as possible. I'm not initiating anything.
I've got way too much going on during game-time to actively referee party-to-party background shenanigans.

But that's the point. A good GM would never initiate such a roll. I highly doubt you're so familiar with all the characters' backstories that you'd ever even consider forcing a check like that.
If the GM isn't forcing any actions, then there's no issue and Cake should shut up.

I woke up this morning and sometime during my shower thoughts, had a chuckle at a sequence of events from last session:
1) Koban in the kitchen of the Kolyanas with a chef who just got shredded by a bat swarm.
2) Koban using the dead body of the chef as a shield from the bat swarm.
3) Trying to stuff said body into a window to help board it up, which he failed at
4) Losing his body shield with the failure and taking a good chunk of bat swarm damage
5) Running out of the kitchen, slamming doors behind him

Cool kids play whatever the fuck they want. You're just jelly.
I am not making this up, but we must have been having a telepathic moment because in the shower this morning I was thinking, "Fucking Manfred got a raw deal. Troy should have given him a saving throw, rolled for damage, or even let me roll a Dex saving throw to see if I could pull him out of the way in time."Troy wrote: 1) Koban in the kitchen of the Kolyanas with a chef who just got shredded by a bat swarm.

I hate doing that though. The material gives me a guide on upgrading or downgrading fights based on party numbers. All 5 of you are there and I get to run the encounters as-written.
The bottom of the Durst Crypt presented a possible choice I couldn't let anyone decide except for their own PC. Mordigan's ghost almost decided for him. You'd be surprised how many other DM write-ups ended with: "so they left a party member to die and walked out".
Leisher, I just simulated all three of those rolls and they all critically failed. Too bad about Manfred. He could cook those bear steaks JUST right.
Oh BeeDee - You and Donavich slept in the church that evening.
