I feel like it would be unfair to do any kind of group planning without having Zelda's input.
Oh - I meant an ingame planning meeting. Totally agree with the rest.

Thursday, also a hotel in Georgia. Saturday... No idea.
So for Friday - are you thinking BeeDee can be present for any of that session? Even for the first half would get you up to speed and have a say in the planning meeting. Dunno when we'll figure out what happened to Ismark and BeeDee, maybe I'll just have to just do some random rolls for it. I can't roll your ghost-related saving throw though.

I guess you guys already did write-ups, so I'll just post the usual 9PM EST, 4/6. 2.5 hours.

In-game time wise, Session 7 probably needs to stick to just finishing out Day 2 up until pre-dawn of Day 3. Then we can pick up next week with morning of Day 3. It's been a pretty fucking rough Day 2 for you guys between the swamp monster attacks, shadow/spectre drains, and ghostly possessions. I'm sure things will get easier once the sun goes down.

I really don't know.

I'm not just blowing it off, there's stuff happening in Georgia regarding the divorce, which I don't want to go deeply into. But I'll do my best.

No worries - seriously. Real life comes first. We’ll figure it out.

I logged in a few days ago and noticed my guy is green, i think i do have some sort of disease am i correct? And if i do isn't this something that BeeDee can fix by "Laying Hands" on me?

Also, We found that cape from killing Laslow, who's going to wear that?

Yeah you are poisoned/diseased from the death dog. BeeDee's "Lay On Hands" will fix if he uses 5 out of his pool. I want to say he was at 0, but leveling up gave him 5 more. Recharging the pool takes a long rest.

RE: BeeDee and Ismark. Given circumstances, and because the timelines need to be merged tonight. I just need to rule they make it to the surface suffering a Shadow drain each and killing a Shadow each. Ismark (who was pretty messed up) nearly dies from it, but they make it out alive.

Troy, when you delete posts, there should be a check box to permanently delete it. You seem to delete a lot of posts and I don't think you know about the box.

Looking forward to tonight. My oldest kid has been stealing my charging cables for my phone. I'm thinking about holding off and chastising her about it before I get on tonight to help me get in the right frame of mind for Koban and Alex's conversation. Method acting! :D

What happens if I don't click the button? Does it still show up to some people? It seems to delete them for me, box or no box, so I just stopped clicking it.

e: yeah a delete is a delete for me. I saw your post flash and now it's gone.

I think mostly it's when I write something stupid or unnecessary and read it 5 minutes later and delete or edit it. Mostly.

That's how my process is with my work/creative endeavors too. I make a base, hate it, refine it, shred it. Then eventually settle on something.

I always assume the deleted post is a tortured confession that the author is coming out as a furry, and I just don't want to know.

Maybe just admins can see them?

I'm bummed that tonight will end and I'll have to wait a week again.

DM: Charisma checks between PCs. What's you stance? Mordigan does an insight check against Alex to see if he's lying. Rolls high enough to detect he is. Rolls an intimidation and/or persuasion to get the truth. etc.

We had a long discussion about it. I argued that it could ruin my character for me if I'm forced to divulge something about him before I'm ready to. He argues so what. Just roll play that the info is out. That just tells me that he has no emotional attachment to his character or his story. He'll play whatever as whoever, whenever. Doesn't matter. But to me or others it might matter. They may not WANT to play their character that way or share/start that story yet.

To me, if Stranger can't convince me that Mordigan is going to attack Alex because. . . whatever, then he failed his intimidation attempt. Then he has to decide if he's actually going to carry out the attack or back down. This shouldn't be decided by dice rolls.

Brief search showed this as being the general concession out there:

Code: Select all

I will never call for a charisma check between players. I cannot in any way adjudicate your attempts at persuading, intimidating, deceiving, entertaining, etc another player because I am not playing them. I play the NPCs and I call for these checks as a way to determine NPC responses. I do not let players choose to roll these checks. If they try them against their fellow players, I say no. Talk to them and roleplay it out. If you can't do that, then you just failed.

I've pretty much uniformly noted DMs not letting persuasion/intimation contests between PCs. For the reasons you wrote, what the concession quote stated, and more.

One big one is that the game isn't balanced to allow PC on PC interaction like that. It's balanced on a party v. environment level. A super focused persuasion bard could order the entire party around, take all the loot, make the rest of the party his lackeys, and other stuff like that. Not fun for anyone but the bard.

They can definitely ASK questions, and then do an Insight check on your answer. If it works they would know you were lying.

***

There are exceptions.
If a PC has lost control of themselves (it'd be against the DM),
If magic is involved (see below)
If it's cleared ahead of time and fits into what is going on (DM OK'd)

Watch out for a PC getting access to Zone of Truth. It couldn't compel you to spill your background, but it could make you reveal Yes/No answers to their questions. A Charisma check every 6 seconds - so they can't really dig too deep unless you roll real bad.

Session 7 recap. "An evening at the Kolyana's"

Definitely a plot moving session over a hack and slash one. Well, until the Lesser Flesh Golem smashed through the wall.

Party rolled pretty well up until Ireena came down the stairs trying to open the front door. Mordigan's 13 strength check against Ireena's 6 headed off what would have been an interesting development. (from a DM perspective, maybe not for the party)

Item wise:

Party + 50 gp (sold beer to Vine)

Alex:
+ Healing Potion
+ 2 materials for spell copying
-200 gp (right?)

Aftermath of the assault on the Kolyana manor.
