Discovery TV Show
Each week on Naked and Afraid, a new pair of strangers will face the ultimate survival challenge: to survive together for 21 days in some of the world’s harshest environments with no food, no water, no tools…and no clothes. As their extreme survival skills are put to the test, each couple must battle the elements, each other, and their own inner weakness to triumph over the terrain and their predicament.

To me, this is what Survivor always should have been.

They're going to drop two naked, unarmed people in the middle of Detroit?

This show is kinda awesome. The first episode was set in Costa Rica... #2 is in Maldives (well, 1/2 in the order I'm watching them).

Les would laugh at these people, I think. The first one, they barely got any food. The guy lost 45 pounds in 3 weeks.

Second episode, the guy/girl are having serious issues getting water.

And the guy was kinda dumb as shit. He's on the pale side, and decided to spend almost the whole first day in the sun. Me? My first thought is "wait til dusk" His first thought? "swim a mile... sidestroke"

The guy lost 45 pounds in 3 weeks.

That usually translates to serious medical issues.

Admittedly Les has more gear than these people have. But I've never seen any of these people set traps or figure out how to fish/etc. In fact, food seems to be their major failure across the board.

I've seen every episode so far, and record the series.

I like it.
The people in the show all have survival experience. They don't just stick noobs in the field.

It looks really rough. Several people were out of commission for days.
In one episode they showed pictures of a producer's foot who was bit by a fer-de-lance while scouting the site. The two naked people stumbled onto several of those snakes (they killed one and ate it).
While backpacking in the Andes a couple years ago our guides killed a fer-de-lance. They said they were really aggressive, but I don't know if they were just trying to scare the Gringos.

From the previews for the next episode it looks like a buff guy will be teamed up with a fat woman, and he'll have to be evacuated, so the fat woman will be all alone. (...must... not... make... joke...)

Man Vs. Wild angers me because it's staged, with setup scenarios, imported food/animals, etc.

Dual Survival was okay, but I quit watching it even before the replaced the best survivalist (Greet Beret guy who acts like Jesse Ventura). It was staged, but not nearly to the degree as as MvW.

Survivorman is my favorite, though the recent Survivorman 10 Days episodes were a bit much. Making two, one hour episodes for each location (Mexico and Norway I think) are a bit much. I'd love to do an episode with him.

I would not want to do Naked and Afraid. Three weeks would kick my ass. 95% of the time you'd just be laying there, trying to stay warm or trying to stay out of the sun or sleeping. The people on that show get destroyed.
It is entertaining though.

They said they were really aggressive, but I don't know if they were just trying to scare the Gringos.

They're not so much aggressive, they're just far too prevalent in too many areas too often. They are venemous as all hell and frequently cross paths with people.

On the one hand, I could stand to lose 20 more pounds... on the other hand... yeah, that shit is brutal. It's not about thriving at all, it's purely about surviving... making it. I'd love to see some of these people thrive. On the other hand, there's good reasons they're in uninhabited places.

"Naked and Afraid: Uncensored" is on right now.

It still has the blur over the naughty bits.

I cry shenanigans!

Yeah, I figured they would keep the bars. I was like "Really? Uncensored?" But just assumed that meant longer cuts or crap they didn't show originally.

Remember Blind Date? Saw the uncensored version of that once, and it was truly uncensored. Amazing how many people get naked and/or play the role of whore just because they're on TV.

When I was in college I knew student who had a job going through tape of a reality show (I think The Real World).
She basically had to watch the thousands of hours of boring footage and write down everything that happened and when it happened, so higher-ups could go through the meaningful footage and construct a storyline for the show.
She said there is was a ton of nudity and the someone compiled a lot of it on for a video they passed around in-house.
This was before video was big on the Internet, so it probably never leaked.
I'm sure nowadays they are a lot more protective of that sort of stuff.
