The second one was so bad that they delayed it a year or two and re-shot a bunch of scenes, so obviously they would green light a third.

However, what’s more impressive is raking in $80 million overseas—so whoever at Paramount decided to delay the film by nine months for 3D conversion looks like a genius now.
I wonder why.

Want to hear something hilarious?
Wife is going out on "girl's night." They are planning to go see the new GI Joe movie. I say, "What? That isn't a chick flick." She says, "I know, but X says she wants to see it and it is full of hot men like Channing Tatum." I told her, "This sounds like the worst girl's night-movie I have ever heard of or read about." She says, "Nah, cute guys." I try it one more time: "Seriously, this is just a horrible, horrible idea for girl's night. Don't do it. See anything except that." I am ignored.
So the girls went to see GI Joe: 2.
They didn't like it, and Channing Tatum died 5 minutes in.
Girls are dumb.

You'd be shocked how well mindless exported American action movies play overseas given the proper circumstances.
