I've always liked comedies, but hell if I could find anything funny on tv lately. Even Family Guy has gone downhill, bringing only an occasional laugh. I think the Office and Earl are the only comedies I watch. And the last season of the Office was disappointing post-strike (except the season finale).

But this show is funny. Very funny. Alec Baldwin does great with his character, and there's even some nice eye candy on the show.

I just started watching season 1 (6 eps in), and so far, so good.

I just can't get into that show and it's mainly because of their two stars, Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. They just know that they're better and smarter than you.

It's a shame too because I do think they're both talented, but the hype behind that show bugged me. It got terrible ratings in the first season, but NBC kept it on. I still don't think it's doing too good, and now there are rumors that Alec Baldwin wants off the show.

Right now, I think sitcoms are dead. In fact, I don't think there's much on TV at all worth watching.

Their feelings of superiority apparently pale in comparison to my own.

But, I've never heard the hype, or whatever too. I remember hearing it won some awards last week, but that's about it. I'm pretty far removed from hype machines, especially with regards to TV.

I missed some of the episodes in the middle of the first season and so I had to stop watching and wait for it to come out on DVD so I haven't seen any of season 2 yet but after season 1 I think it is the best show on TV.

Of course if Arrested Development ever came back that would be the best show on TV.

I never got into Arrested Development... but I missed the start of it, so I have a feeling it's one of those shows that needs to be watched from the start. True?

Friend of my wife's was in the management program at GE. She said there's lots of GE insider jokes on 30 Rock.

It makes a lot of GE mgmt jokes so far. I think that's part of the appeal to me. No one makes business jokes.

I would say yes watch it from the start. There are of ton of jokes and situations that are based on previous episodes.

The "brilliant" Alec Baldwin?

Wow. That hurts to read.

Been marathoning this show on Netflix from my hotel room.

Very funny, enjoying it, and yeah, the liberal humor shines. That's fine.

BUT.... there was an episode when Tina Fey gets called for jury duty in Chicago even though she lives in NYC. When asked about it, she says she never changed her official address because she "wanted to be able to vote in a swing state."

For the left, voter fraud is comedy.

But good show, overall.

Also, I think my fave recurring joke so far is that in this show, is that in the GE corporate hierarchy, NBC is "owned outright by the Sheinhardt Wig Company."

I've always been a fan of that one, although they change it up in season... 4? (spoiler alert?)

True, there's liberal humour, but there's also a fair amount of making fun of liberal politics too, imho.

Is there a season 6? Netflix has through S5, and I can't find anything after S5 "elsewhere."

Catching up with Season 6....
Jack: But, and I will never say this again, but you have a power that I don’t.
Liz: Besides the greatest power of all? The ability to gestate life.
Jack: Of course, Lemon. That’s why the president is always a new mom.

I laughed so hard my wife flipped me off.
