Paul Rudd is in the business world and wants to move up to the executive level. To do so, he's got to get in good with all the evil executive types (that's how they're portrayed here) and the way to do that is to bring an idiot to a dinner so they can all make fun of him/her.

That's when he runs into Steve Carrell. Steve uses dead mice to make intricate scenes. He's also really stupid.

Prior to the party Steve complicates Paul's life in almost every way. Paul's girlfriend dumps him, his stalker finds out where he lives, he gets wrapped up with an over the top macho artist, etc.

The first 60 minutes of this film are excruciating. There are some chuckles, but they're spread out and the pacing is sloooooooooooooow. My wife quit watching at this point and the dinner scene hadn't begun.

The second half of the film picks up with the actual dinner, but it's just a couple of giggles until Zach G. arrives. The interactions between him and Carrell are the best parts of this film.

If you want something amazing and side splitting hilarious to fill your two hours, this isn't that film. (Yes, this is two hours long.) However, if you really like Paul Rudd and Steve Carrell then this film won't be the worst thing you've ever seen.

The artist dude was basically Russel Brand's character from Sarah Marshall, only not as cool.

Good point.

Also, the other "idiots" at the dinner weren't funny.
