This is a Discovery documentary that lays out an argument that all of human accomplishment in recorded history is directly related to the discovery, production, and existence of beer.
Of course, I agree and approve.

I've seen is asserted that beer, not bread, was the motivator for agriculture, and also for pottery. Seems legit.

Covered in this show. And since that prompted commerce, beer was also the prime factor in the development of writing and math. They said the phoenecians had something like 160 words for different aspects of beer.

They invented the alphabet.

It was cuneiform. I don't remember who they said had all the words.

Sumerians invented cuneiform. Phoenecians actually invented the alphabet, from which ours is descended. I guess maybe they stole it from the Egyptians, sorta.

I know. I grew up with the WORLD BOOK ENCYCLOPEDIA in the house. The first page of each volume was the history of that letter.
I was just being general because I couldn't remember the exact culture they mentioned.
