An indy film which has a quote on the box cover comparing it to Jaws.
Yeah, massive red flag right there...
3 friends go skiing and get stuck on the mountain after everyone has gone home. Their efforts to survive is what the film is really about.
The biggest issue I have with this movie is the way reality is ignored to tell a story. Cold is a MAJOR factor here and gets acknowledged, but not in the way it should. You don't survive sub freezing temperatures for days without food and water. Sorry, that's a fact. And you sure as hell don't do it while barely showing any signs of frostbite.
The second biggest issue is how stupid everyone in the film has to act to move the story forward. From the way they get trapped to the decisions they make while stuck to the way they blew a slam dunk rescue within the first few hours of their situation. The list goes on and on and on.
Even the wildlife was written incorrectly.
It's too bad because they do have some moments that echo Jaws, specifically the U.S.S. Indianapolis scene. No, nothing that powerful and well acted, but characterization was obviously important to the writer (he also directed), and that's the film's strength. It's too bad everything else was pretty bad.
