Terminator: The Prequel...I mean Eagle Eye stars Shia LeBeouf as a guy who is wasting his potential when he gets dragged into a massive government conspiracy.
Shia and a female accomplice, played by Michelle Monaghan, get sent on an unknown mission by an unknown person who guides them via phone calls and seems to have access to every computer network on the planet. One step behind them are the feds led by Billy Bob Thornton.
I was truly expecting to hate this film, and despite a few ridiculous moments, it did keep my attention. The action was good and the concept of the unknown caller guiding the protagonists is cool.
The ridiculous moments do take away from the film though, particularly since one is critical to the plot.
Still, it's probably worth a rental to action fans. Just don't expect any true suspense. You'll know what's coming and you'll groan. Just turn off your brain and enjoy the rental.
5 out of 10.
