From here.

During the movie I kept mental track of accuracy vs. inaccuracy, as to how well it portrays the Marines.

This movie is 89% bullshit.

And not even the innocent kind of bullshit, but the kind that actually goes out of its way and invents fiction, and implies that it is factual, to portray Marines in the worse possible light. I can see why the hippies loved it when it was released.

The movie is based on a book co-written (IIRC) by the guy who was actually there for Desert Shield/Storm, and I knew a few of exactly the type of guy who wrote this book: the shit bird who couldn't keep his head out of his ass long enough to brush his teeth.

This was the first movie in a long time where I had to keep myself from turning it off in the middle. Just so much bullshit I can't even begin to list all of the bullshit bullet points.

But it's in a movie, so it MUST be real!!

Just like Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 911, and An Inconvenient Truth...

I still remember how pissed the DOJ was about people calling to complain after they saw Con Air. All the callers were objecting to the DOJ moving criminals around the country via plane.

The problem is the DOJ doesn't actually move prisoners like that. They had to tell each caller, "It's just a movie."

Hell, remember the original War of the Worlds radio broadcast?

Bumped for front page post.

Yeah, this movie has been stewing in my brain all this time. Hopefully this venting will allow me to get over it, already.
