This review will contain spoilers, but it's necessary because this is more of a discussion about legalizing marijuana or more specifically "medical marijuana".

In the interest of fairness, I will point out that I am for legalizing marijuana, especially for medical purposes, and believe if the feds were smart, they'd legalize it through their own outlets and profit from the sales. (I won't go into the stupid war on drugs or how many people are in prison for non-violent "crimes" involving marijuana.)

Doug Benson made a joke about recreating the movie "Super Size Me" except doing it about pot, not McDonald's. Someone in the audience was a filmmaker and challenged him to actually do it, so they did.

This is strictly a documentary and not as funny as you'd imagine.

They really try to be fair by having Doug completely sober for 30 days and then high for 30. They subject him to various tests during both periods and compare the results.

This represents the biggest flaw in their process. They should have had another comedian be high during Doug's 30 days of sobriety and then sober while Doug was high. Both could have performed the same tests at the same time.

As it stands, the results could easily be argued against, aside from a few such as the sperm test or the lung capacity tests.

For example, Doug takes the S.A.T.s both while sober and high. His score was better while he was high. The problem is that it can be argued that he took the same test recently, and obviously could have benefited from that experience.

To further cloud their results Doug has a really hard time focusing while high and forgets even his own material. An obvious side effect of the pot. Worse still is that he does worse on a mental test performed by his doctor who actually altered the test from the first time he took it. I won't say whether he passes or fails, but he was obviously ready for at least one portion of the test, which DID alter his score positively.

So I do think to make a film whose results would have meant more, they should have had two subjects instead of just one, Doug.

Back to the actual film, it really is a very interesting look at the effects of marijuana.

The most interesting thing, however, was watching the U.S. government shit on the constitution in the name of the "war on drugs".

This film is worth checking out no matter where you stand on the issue, just don't expect any of the results in the film to support either side.

Yeah. Saw this some months ago. The tests were obviously biased, but amusing nonetheless. For those of you that want the history of marijuana, checked out the Hitler Channel's "Hooked : Illegal Drugs and How They Got That Way" episode for it. In fact, check out the entire series. Most of the drugs laws from the early twentieth century come from anti-immigrant laws. They point out "marihuana-crazed Negroes" are part of the reason why some cops started getting issued 9mm instead of pussy .22s.

But Nixon is the one that REALLY put the screws to everything when he made the DEA.
