I thought I saw a review of this somewhere here, but a search revealed nothing.
Anyway, Denzel Washington is a cop who is under investigation and gets assigned to handle a bank robbery. Meanwhile, Clive Owen is a bank robber who has a hidden agenda. Also, Jodie Foster is a mystery woman who fixes things for her rich clients.
Just a horrible film. More so because it had a chance to be good. Terrible writing and terrible direction. Spike Lee is a talentless hack.
On a sidenote, isn't it about time someone in Hollywood strapped on a pair and told Spike Lee to go fuck himself? Every movie he makes has to show whitey being racist. Well fuck you Spike Lee. YOU'RE a racist and you're promoting more racism by putting this shit into movies. he apparently has a thing against video games too.
Anyway, this film is just all over the place except for the the realm of reality. Everything the cops do is total bullshit in how they deal with these situations. The only really cool part is the robbers themselves. Their plan is very interesting, but again, poor direction hurts it at times as you must watch to see what they're doing and Spike's lack of talent confuses the issue.
As for the acting, I expected more. There are some good actors here, but they really don't put in Oscar worthy performances.
Skip it and rent Dog Day Afternoon instead.
