The box cover for this film shows a woman and a lion and proclaims it to be based on true events. I can't find any evidence that the claim is true, although if the events were as boring as the film, then it's possible that I wouldn't find anyone talking about it.
The storyline goes that a family, complete with new step-mom, heads to Africa, gets lost on a safari, and then are "stalked" by lions.
Think "Cujo" meets "The Ghost and The Darkness" and you'll have an idea of what this film is all about.
This movie is simply stupid. From the way they get stranded to the lions' behavior to the specific folks who die, this is just a pointless film.
There are really three storylines at play here:
1. Surviving the lions.
2. Step-mom and daughter's relationship.
3. Dad (Peter Weller) searching for family.
None are well done or entertaining.
From a man versus beast aspect, this is Jaws IV set in Africa.
I've wasted enough time talking about it. It's ass, don't waste your time seeing it.
1 out of 10.
