Watched this one with the wife, she got it for Christmas, over the holidays.

Not horrible, but really cliche.

Meryl Streep is admittedly fantastic as an evil queen of the fashion world. What she says goes, including being a horrible boss.

Anne Hathaway stars as a young journalist who lands a job as Meryl Streep's assistant and refuses to quit because being her assistant for 1 year opens doors.

The first half of this movie is actually charming and guys will even forget that they're watching a chick flick set in the fashion world. Mainly this happens because of the good looking women and Meryl Streep's performance. She's such a mega bitch that it's very entertaining to watch her shit on her employees.

After that the movie gets very slow, uses cliches, and totally loses its focus.

For example, one of the major plot points is that this job is so stressful on Anne's life that she starts having problems with her live-in boyfriend and her friends. The problem is that we're talking about 1 year, not 20. If your partner can't sacrifice for one year so you can finish a career making job, then that partner isn't for you.

Beyond that there's the gay friend, the token black friend, the mean girl who is swayed by the hero's charm, the "other" guy who seems nice but isn't....yada, yada, yada.

Had this movie held it's focus from the first half of the film, I'd honestly be giving it something in the range of 8 or 9, instead, it gets a...

5 out of 10. (Great first half, cliched, totally wonky second half. Most women will even be bored by the second half.)
