Lucas said he believes Americans are abandoning the moviegoing habit for good.
I'd go so far as to say Lucas himself helped drive peeps away from theatres.

"For that same $200 million, I can make 50-60 two-hour movies. That's 120 hours as opposed to two hours. In the future market, that's where it's going to land, because it's going to be all pay-per-view and downloadable.
Intriguing math. & come to think of it, there's more than a couple directors that did kick-ass work on a next to nothing budget & did suck-ass work when someone gave them cash. & just cos shit it pay per view & downloaded doesn't mean theatres are going away. This is also the dude that thought digital projectors & shit would be standard in every cineplex by the year 2000.

Big studios yes, but I have seen more and more movies I like coming from small indie producers lately.
