Brandan Frazier, Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Tony Danza, Jennifer Esposito (and her nipples), Ryan Phillipe, Ludicrous, etc.
To sum up: Everyone is racist/prejudiced in some way. Because of that, we make mistakes, however we are all better than that and we need to get over it.
That's it. Really.
Very well acted, but really boring and slow. As you can imagine it's pretty preachy as well.
5 out of 10. (Great acting, boring movie)

A crappy movie full of crappy characters doing crappy things to each other for crappy reasons so as to tell a crappy story. Good acting, though.

Funny parts, preachy, but not as bad as they make it out, IMHO. 6 out of 10.
Oh yeah, best line.
(paraphrased since my memory isn't perfect)

"Yes, but that leaves just one question....who got all of those different people together and taught them all how to park on their lawns?"

Liked, it alot... was terribly suprised to find that Ludacris has some acting talent, rapping not so much, but acting... pretty good

How in the mother of fuck did this beat out "Capote" for best fucking picture? How in the hell was this even NOMINATED for best picture? They must've paid off the same ass-clowns that Reese Witherspoon did.

Honestly, I think Crash is a perfect example of how Hollywood's politics and ego are so massive that it's overshadowing the craft of filmmaking.
This was simply a mediocre screenplay that was cast with good actors. The storyline was thin at best and I saw more reality in Doom.
Having racism as the central theme of a film doesn't make it edgy or good. Particularly when your characters are so ridiculously phony.
Why does Hollywood think controversy = a quality film? If Brokeback Mountain is a good film (I have not seen it), I'm sure it's not because it's controversial. It would be because the writing and acting are good, among other things. Controversy sells tickets, it doesn't make something of good quality.
For Hollywood to claim that crap like Crash is the best they can make in a given year really shows you where they are creatively.

I didn't read all of this, but maybe it has something to do with what you said.
But the fact that liberal-oriented films received all five Oscar nominations for Best Picture appeared to lead the national media to frame these nominations as “Hollywood sending a message to Bush.” It’s as if racial justice is part a sectarian, left wing agenda, rather than something embedded in the American Constitution.

Well that article seems to imply that hollywood isn't liberal enough, so I doubt the author and I would get along well. Especially, since he's one of these "Bush controls the media" morons.
I think it's hard to argue that Hollywood doesn't have their fingers on the pulse of America. I mean the Oscars' ratings are down 10% from last year, their candidate didn't win the election they tried their best to win for him, they nominated 5 films for best picture that most people never saw, the film that won was at best a 3 and a half star film, video games are out selling movies by a LOT, the box office take is shrinking, movie theaters are closing and consolidating as their audience shrinks, 90% of new movies are sequels or rehashes of old ideas, the quick turnaround of DVDs combined with home theater systems are making it less important than ever to actually go to a theater, and more Americans are turning off their TVs and VCRs in favor of the web and their Playstations.
Yep, Hollywood's kicking ass.
I actually think Hollywood chickened out in not making Brokeback their best picture. I don't know if it really deserved it since I have yet to see it, but the pre-show hype seemed to show that it should have won. I think that it's possible that they didn't want it to win for fear of a backlash. Remember how the gay marriage proposals went over in the last elections?
As for Clooney, I think he's just a guy who lives in a different world and doesn't really understand how this one works. It's very easy to think the world can be a utopia when you live in one.
