"6.) The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith (eBook – Audio Book) - “to learn that capitalism is an economy of greed, a force of nature unto itself.”"

You say greed, I say motivated self interest.

7.) The Art of War by Sun Tsu (eBook – Audio Book) - “to learn that the act of killing fellow humans can be raised to an art.”

Not even close, hippie. In fact, Sun Tzu specifically states that defeating an enemy on the field is a secondary victory while subduing your opponent without warfare is proof of real skill.

1.) The Bible (eBook) - “to learn that it’s easier to be told by others what to think and believe than it is to think for yourself.”

Says the dude who put the list up...

2.) The System of the World by Isaac Newton (eBook) – “to learn that the universe is a knowable place.”

I disagree strongly in general.

Yeah, I was thinking something similar.

I am not exactly the world's most religious man, but lately the "I'm a cool anti-religious science liberal guy!" thing just annoys the shit out of me.

Religion totally used to be a science.

"Hmm, if we offer sacrifice to the rain gods, the crops won't suck ... well, unless we pissed off the gods more than usual."

It's just inverted now.

"Hmm, if we <s>offer sacrifice</s> reduce carbon emissions now <s>to the rain gods</s> in the atmosphere, the <s>crops</s> climate won't suck ... well, unless we pissed off the <s>gods</s> climate more than usual by doing something else."

I agree. There seems to be much more proselytizing of atheists against Christianity than the other way around. At least in what we're fed via media.

I'll leave other religions out of it because the most vocal anti Christian atheists are far to cowardly to go after Islam the way they go after Christians.
