Kid throws balls to himself.

Yahoo actually ran a headline asking if it was real.

When did the news editor of the Weekly World News move to Yahoo?

The worst part are the people commenting how it's real or could be real.

The only way to do this is to obviously throw the ball at an extreme launch angle. If he caught the ball at 40 yards, he would have had to throw the NFL 15 ounce ball at a distance of 92 yards (total distance traveled) at 32 feet per second at a launch angle of 64 degrees.

Based upon the math, if he threw a NFL football that weighs 15 ounces with the same strength as it would take to do the above and released it at a regular more common angle of 40 degrees, it would have traveled 138 yards.
Between us, I do not know of anyone that can throw football 138 yards. Therefore, even though it is mathematically possible to do this, I call this myth PLAUSIBLE at best, but I really say that it's BUSTED!

That launch angle is much higher than 64 degrees. Closer to 85 degrees. That ball went off camera to the left, and the one he caught was from someone else.

Besides, why else do we need someone to tell him when to go if there's nothing to time?

I don't think I understand that person's math.

The kid ran 40-50 yards (120 to 150 feet). It took about 5 seconds for that to happen.

At a 70 degree angle, it would take 60 mph speed to go 140 feet, give or take, with a flight time around 5s. That's Brett Favre arm (speeds up to 63mph according to the Internet).

That person said 64 degree launch angle, 32 feet/s. That translates to: 25 feet, and a flight time of 1.8s. His numbers are just wrong. But I don't disagree with his conclusion.

But yes: any time the ball leaves the camera view, it's probably fake.

Oh, and if you watch the shadows, check that the ball shadow disappears behind the, uh, water pump(?) thingy, then is gone for about 2 seconds, then reappears with the falling ball.

Apparently the fastest recorded football throw on record is around 63 mph. If you assume an angle of 80 degrees at that speed you get a distance thrown of 30 yards in just over 5 seconds. The time is about right, but I'm not good at judging distance. However given the world record times at the 100-yard dash that would seem to be a reasonable estimate of the distance run.

If you assume he has both a very good arm and a good sprint, it's not impossible at all. I bet it's still faked, though, with a second off-screen throw.
