I assume it is the ghetto...
They are going to be bussing "gifted" kids from their local schools into a "failing" school in order to improve the average test scores at the "failing" school.

I would be interested in seeing a followup in 2 years, to see if these smart kids' ambitions have been completely destroyed by the ghetto kids.
Also, no way in hell I would let them bus my smart-as-hell 7 year old into a Toledo ghetto. I'd pull him out of school first.
There is no way in hell.

They've been doing that here forever. I grew up in a school system that did that as well. It was basically a school within a school system, where the gifted kids had their own classes for everything except PE.

So, what would y'all do if your local school wanted to bus your kids to the ghetto for that reason? Stop it from happenng? Tell your kid to shank the biggest fucker at the ghetto school in order to establish dominance?

Yeah, and when our county decided to stop doing that, it was called "racist" and "resgregation" and "turning the clock back" and all kinds of crap. It was all over Daily Show and Colbert and stuff a couple of years ago.

If only you could get the benefits of socialization without the inherent drag factor in the educational dead zone.

Yeah, I am asking what you would do if it were your kids.
I assume they aren't being bussed out at the moment.
..... are they school age yet?

Youngest one is in Kindergarten. Actually, we moved out to the suburbs a few years ago because of schools. Our daughter is a minority [1 Hispanic, ~8 White kids, 1 black, ~12 Asian in her class. She's Hispanic/White]. We lobbied the school district for new busing routes/schools, and "won." So our daughters would not be bussed out, right now.
Right now, you mostly get bussed into the inner city if you join special IB, AG, or other programs (magnet schools), all of which are located in crappy parts of town.
