Maj. Gen. Thomas J. Fiscus, the Air Force's former top military lawyer, will be retired at the reduced rank of colonel and lose nearly $900,000 in potential retirement pay after an investigation found him involved in several affairs and improper conduct with more than a dozen women, the Air Force announced yesterday.

Punishing him for sleeping around on his wife - which according to the Polk quote they mostly are - is completely inappropriate. The government has no call to police his private behavior in the bedroom. Polk should be ashamed of himself for thinking that's the right thing for a governmental entity to do.

But the sleeping with subordinates and other women he works with, that's defiantly punishment-worthy. I'm not defending the guy in general. I just hate that they had to go and stress exactly all the wrong reasons for going after him.
