I got mad at the pediatrician at one of our "well visits" a while back, because she was asking something about guns. The AAP is very anti-gun. Cuz, you know, Guns Kill Kids!

Umm...sorta:

A disproportionate burden of firearm injuries, both fatal and non-fatal, occurs in males, non-Caucasian children, and those aged 12 years and older. Injury prevention strategies should be targeted towards these children.

Translation: it's black teenagers getting shot. Who knew?

I tried to make an argument about SIDS, too, but the doctors just don't freaking listen.

There are roughly 10 risk factors for SIDS, which can double/triple/whatever the rate at which it occurs. So I asked the doctor what the odds were for children with none of those risk factors. Silence.

Yeah, my kids mostly slept on their bellies, cuz they slept better that way.
