Remember when Trent Lott had to resign because he said it might have been a good thing if Strom Thurmond had won when he ran for President?

The nation's first African-American president said Byrd told him when they met, "there are things I regretted in my youth, you may know that.'"

"And I said, 'none of us are absent some regrets, Senator, that's why we enjoy and seek the grace of God,'" Obama recalled.

No, it's not.

"The good men do is oft interred with their bones ... unless there's a good PR chance."
