Google Wave is apparently the next greatest thing for PCs but I still don't quite understand what the hell I should be excited about.

"It is a web-based service, computing platform, and communications protocol designed to merge e-mail, instant messaging, wiki, and social networking.[3] It has a strong collaborative and real-time[4] focus supported by extensions that can provide, for example, robust spelling/grammar checking, automated translation between 40 languages,[2] and numerous other extensions."

So instead of having IM (which I don't use) running as a different program as my email and facebook(that I don't use) it will all be on the same web page? Ok so it is all right in front of me? Big deal. The excitement I am seeing for tech nerds and blogger makes me think they are on googles payroll or google isn't doing a good enough job letting me know why this is great.

I guess the names is a reference to Firefly which is cool.

There's a few folk out there that see Google as the proverbial Army of light. & the capital to do pretty much whatever the fuck you want is also a plus.

From what I understand it'll have most of the functionality of Google Docs tied into it, too. It's the productivity software equivalent of the iPhone, tying multiple functions into one seamless simple-to-use package. I'm sure many people will make good use of it. I have no interest.
