As established, Russia hates the gays. Peeps are suggesting boycott. Huge gay supporter Obama says don't boycott. (That was sarcastic. The man doesn't like gay people, but had his hand forced by his boob of a VP.)
Now, Russia says it will arrest gay folk at the Olympics.
This is interesting. Since Obama took some jabs at Putin recently over Snowden, I wonder if Putin will use this as a way to get payback? Arrest some Americans, then dare Obama to do something. Doing it on a world stage could be pretty embarrassing to the White House.

Can you use this as chance to shout your nation's political beliefs by not sending your athletes? Sure. But that kind of seems like a dick move to the athletes unless you've got their unanimous support. On the flip side, Russia making this announcement now should logically bar them from hosting the Olympics, notwithstanding that they're happening next year. This is shit they should've been made to state long, long before now. The IOC is as much of a joke as the UN, ICC, and every other international organization.

I agree with Obama that boycotting is NOT the way to go. I'm just saying this seems to be setting up nicely for Putin to be a dick to Obama if he wants.

Vlad only recently backed down from tossing the opposition candidate into the slammer on some bullshit charges. I was rather surprised when they released him a day after. He's not just doing these things for the hell of it, either.
In response, all the countries should march in the opening ceremonies with the gay pride flag, the athletes should have rainbow uniforms, and they should have some choreography on the way in, possibly with a YMCA-Melissa Ethridge medley playing in the background.
Or they could go really over the top and have Cake take the last leg on the relay for the torch lighting.
