Smoking: People are not

You probably can't do it, so don't even try.

Smoking: People are not

Estimates that below 10% of US adults smoked at least one cigarette in 2024.

Of course, how many are vaping?

Based on the vaping stores I see in every strip mall, a whole hell of a lot of them. My newly minted Respiratory Therapist wife says vaping is probably worse than smoking. It gives you popcorn lung.

Also, cigar bars are all the rage right now.

I think people just switched up their vices. Remember the youngins aren't into booze either.

Popcorn lung (bronchiolitis obliterans) is a rare, irreversible lung disease that causes scarring and inflammation in the small airways, leading to wheezing, dry cough, and severe shortness of breath. Originally linked to inhaling diacetyl in popcorn factories, it is now associated with vaping flavored e-cigarettes.
I was going to say it's as fun as eating blue waffles, but since that was just a hoax... I cannot think of any other gross food puns. I know two girls who could bring you a cup of ice cream?

I missed that one, and I'm not going to google it!

The internet is a strange place.

England is slowly banning tobacco and vaping.

This is a classic freedom vs "what's best for society" situation.

I'm ultimately against this ban.

Should people smoke or vape? No. Do these industries mostly target kids? Yes. Will it be a net win for the country if people don't smoke or vape? Yes. (Health care costs go down, less pollution, etc.)

However, this is the proverbial "slippery slope". What's the next thing to be banned? You could use the exact same arguments and language to ban alcohol, basically every food product, the internet, and so on. Thinking the government will stop here is the height of misplaced optimism. This is how populations become enslaved.

I'm against it, but understand it. I always liked the tax it approach. Though then you get illegal vapes/cigs/etc.

This will create an illegal market too. Younger people will get access for years before theirs suppliers are aged out.

Plus, it's wrong of a government to deny people to after sex cigarette.
