Apparently, this is a growing problem in the UK.

If the dog was taken to be their pet, then jail time.

If the dog was taken and harmed, then death penalty. Humanity doesn't need people who do this shit. They're telling you that they'd be fine doing this to humans too, but they know they'd be less able to get away with that.

Law generally considers pets as simple property, though.

Indeed, and I think that needs to change.

This isn't hunting for food, for population control, or even sport. These are pets and it is a generally understood fact that people see them as people. Doing harm to them means knowing you're also hurting human beings.

Science also says that people who harm pets are more likely to be violent, so this should be another red flag to get them removed from society.

People in Florida are dealing with a lot of horse theft. Their pet disappears from the corral, and they find it 5 miles away in the scrub with the two back legs cut off, literally butchered for meat.

Bring back hanging, for horse thieves.
