Walking aside, you'll still be goofy.

Well, like instantly. They're just to keep my foot from flopping. After 15 years, it's time for me to admit those nerves aren't gonna grow back.

But they'll take some getting used to. I've been lifting my knees so my toes don't drag for so long, it feels like learning to walk all over again. But I looked in the mirror... Suddenly I have a 90% normal gait, compared to the 20% normal without those braces.

Wore them grocery shopping, on the way home. The strap around my left calf is digging in to my shin something fierce. There's going to be an adjustment period.

It chaffed right through my skin on my shin bone. More padding, por favor.

Ouch. Hopefully the VA will get things squared away faster than normal, otherwise they'll have your feet out of the way for the use of your walker.

The VA has been pretty great. I.can get an appointment within two days with online scheduling, and I'm getting regular three-month full diagnostic checkups, and I enjoyed signing the $2k bill for carbon composit braces that got billed to the VA, of which I am responsible for $0.

Bought shin guards off Amazon for $10. I want to experiment with them for skiing, too. Make the ski boots fit better.

I'm glad your experience has been good! From what I hear it's hit or miss depending on the facility. So I guess don't move :-)

I've heard the horror stories.

The clinic in Toledo is new and nice and has a coffee shop in the comfortable lobby and there's usually boy scouts in the atrium giving away popcorn.
