I used to be pretty live and let live about the confederate flag. But I honestly think it should be banned. Do similar as Germany did with Nazi symbols. The confederates started a war, they lost. Fuck em.

That has a lot of merit, but they weren't some foreign power. They were us.

I don't think the flag should have anything to do with our government, but the government has no business telling people if they can own them or not.

The people who want to start a civil war and break off from the federal government changes every time the party of the president changes.

That being said, SC did give lots of fair warning for federal troops to leave Fort Sumpter. In a way, the north started the war. *ahem*

I'd argue the label "traitor," as well. What they attempted wasn't technically illegal. They were not rebelling against the USA any more than the Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves... they decreed themselves a separate country, and said, "Leave us alone now."

The same thing millions of liberals are saying who want their little enclaves of Blue to be separate from Trump's federal government.
