I needed a game to play while waiting for peeps to finally log in to LOL, and PC Gamer rated this one high, so I downloaded it.
It is free to play, with microtransactions that allow you to purchase new stuff. I am not deep enough into the game yet to determine if you NEED money to be competitive.
It is a Massively Multiplayer First Person Shooter, in what appears to be a persistent world. I've logged in 3 times so far and there is a big map grid with different factions controlling different regions, and you and your teammates push to capture the other guy's area while hoping he isn't doing the same to you.
First time I logged in, took me about 15 minutes to find the keyboard customization area so I could move around. Not intuitive. Once I got moving I found my way to an anti-aircraft gun tower, and within about 3 minutes shot down an incoming enemy.
Second time I figured out how to buy a tank... and that was fun. There is a driver/main gunner, and a second peep can jump in and man some other sort of gun. I followed a wolf pack that was leaving our base, and over the course of 20 minutes I had 5 kills and no deaths. Then I tried to go over a monuntain instead of around it, and I got stuck and couldn't get out of the ravine and then I logged.
Third time, another tank, and we captured one area after a fight. We moved on to another area... and enemy aircraft were all over us, we didn't have air support, and I had my first death. Logged out after that.
This is a very team-oriented game, with shitloads of squad commands and waypoints and who the fuck knows what all else.
Not sure what else to say at this time. I am still a supreme newb and there is a lot of depth to it I haven't begin to figure out.
