FCC is going to dump some rules about media ownership.
The newspaper thing I'm fine with because newspapers are a dying industry. Times change.
I don't know about allowing companies to own a larger percentage of media companies than they did in the past. The one obvious negative is a lack of different voices presenting the news. Imagine if only CNN or FOX was available to 70% of the country as their sole source of news. However, is that such a big deal in a world where the internet is taking over?
There is definitely some cronyism going on with this announcement though. It's pretty obvious palms are being greased.
