If you've been paying a slight bit of attention over the past few days, you may have read about Blizzard's attempt to force all posts on the WoW forums to have the actual name of the poster attached for public viewing. Due to a MASSIVE backlash from the community, they finally decided to backpedal a bit.
Lum has the story.

One undercurrent that has been unspoken by many of us, and commented on by the mass media, is that the reason this is such a problem is that gamer culture in general is a mean, ugly, misogynist cesspool.
They have a problem with woman haters on their forums, and for that reason they thought using real names was needed?
I'm not believing it.
WOW nerds don't hate women, they just act like they don't want what they can't get.

Supposedly South Korea has a law that if a forum has over 100,000 people participating they must display the real names of the posters. To discourage cyber bullying and stuff like that.
Since Starcraft is basically a national past time there this was seen as blizzards attempt to comply with that.
