Yes, this is the older one with Robin Williams. I've actually never seen it before tonight.

Overall, I liked it.

Robin Williams plays a robot that was turned on in the far off future of 2005. He seems to have a glitch, though... a spark of empathy and creative thought. The movie expands on that and the robot's history with the family that purchased him.... 4 or 5 generations of them. It is an interesting, primitive, if somewhat simple examination of how an AI would be accepted by society, almost a child's version of the argument given the lack of fucking-over he receives through the movie, but it was worth seeing once.

Honestly, I don't remember. I know I read the story about 30 years ago, but remember almost nothing.

I no longer remember the movie, but I do recall thinking that the short story was better.
