Started watching this on Netflix. Just finished the first season.
It's not too bad. Interesting story, etc. However, there is so much over the top stuff, that it's not believable. Just as the story starts to seem real and they've cleaned things up, they throw in some other thing that just doesn't happen. They aren't deal breakers as far as watching the show. But they knock you right out of thinking you are watching a 'true' story.
I'm going to keep watching it. But I do hope it gets better. And by better, I mean stop putting really stupid stuff in there. It's like they are hitting meth so they can write a story about meth dealers. Good writing, good writing, good writing, BAM something over the top and stupid, back to good writing, good writing, etc.

I was planning to watch this once I'm done with Burn Notice (halfway through Season 6), let me know if it's worth it.

Started it today. The pilot was pretty good. I'm not entirely sure how the fire department started coming to the fire so fast though.

Since i was snowed in for the last couple days i decided to use my Netflix for once. Me and the wife decided to give Breaking Bad a try, we have heard so much about it.
...Already watched the first 2 seasons. I love it! Even my wife, who would much rather just watch Survivor or Dancing with the Stars thinks its fantastic. I had to teach her about all the different smoking devices such as bongs and bohls, and all of the lingo thats accociated with the drug culture because she is absolutley clueless to that shit.
I can't vouch for all the "reality" of some of the scientific happenings in the show but it sounds good enough to me and it makes if fun. I can say there is a scene in season 2 (don't worry, no spoilers here) where he is building a battery and when he speaks of the anode and cathode and the Pn junction, he is speaking the truth. Now if what he pulls off can actually work i don't know, but i like the science of Breaking Bad.
Hell, i'm even thinking of starting up my own mobile meth lab. I think i've learned enough to do so.

Just finished season 1 and started season 2.... it's pretty good, although a little slow sometimes. That might be because I only watch it while working out, so like things a bit more up tempo (Burn Notice worked well).
Watching it gives me no urge to make my own meth lab, but makes me wonder if I could have paid more attention in Chemistry and made my own LSD.

No. Unlike meth, LSD requires laboratory or equivalent conditions.

Yeah, there were reports back as far as season two about blue meth showing up on the streets. Apparently one popular way to do that involves cutting it with pulverized blue toilet tablets.

There's not much they can add to it to make it more toxic than it already is.

Finished season 2. I have two fundamental problems with this show:
1) Walter's behavior. He can make up elaborate lies and stories, except when he can't. It seems very inconsistent to me, like the writers need him to fail making up stories some times just to advance the plot, or to have something happen. His decisions are simply dumb. I understand he's complicated, has issues, etc. But about 80% of the time, he just makes dumb decisions. And it feels like he's just making them to keep the show going, as opposed to how his character would/should act.
2) Speaking of which, very few things happen. Season 2 is the epitome of building drama with nothing to show for it. The intro "build tension" scenes make it feel like a 10 hour soccer match, that ends 0-0. The release of tension never lives up to the build-up of tension.
I'm glad they added Saul. He's added a much-needed extra voice to the show. I like the show, but it could be much tighter, and better.

It gets better.
Season 2 is when I stopped watching, myself. Just got a bit too dull. But I picked it up again in Season 3 or 4 and found it to be very good.

I'm glad I kept with it. Season 3 > Season 2, and Season 4 was the best season they've had so far.
I still get frustrated with Walter's piss poor decision making, but whatever, I made peace with it.

Did anyone else finish watching it?
Honestly, overall I enjoyed it, but it had the same flaw I had with pretty much every Shakespearean tragedy: Too many people making stupid decisions.

Ya, I finished it. And like I said above, it sometimes seemed like the writers would do meth to get into the character's minds more. And then write an episode with a bunch of completely off the wall stuff happening in it.
Same summary. I liked it, but there were some pretty 'out of character' things that happened. It was like watching a really good poker player who would sometimes get bored with the game and just make dumb plays because he's tired of watching for tells and stuff.

Watched my first episode today. Yay.
There were some boobies.

Warning: Those might be about the only boobies in the show.
The first two seasons might be slow for your taste based on your Orphan Black review.

I like science.... no, errrr, I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE.... so I was getting moist when he mentioned "Erlenmeyer Flask." So if there's more of that I will like it better.
Also, only 5 seasons, 13 eps or less, each. I like when there aren't 20 episodes and half of them are filler.

Early on there was more science than later on. When it gets all relationshitty just FF.
The pilot was better than most of season 1.
