Ryan Reynolds' kid gets kidnapped. He's not Liam Neeson, so she's gone for a decade or so. Now the back of the box talks about how recent photos of her are found, yet that doesn't happen until the last quarter of the movie. WTF? It doesn't matter because you know she's alive from the opening scene.
Listen, the acting here is really solid. That being said...
This is an odd film. The whole thing is shown out of order. So in one scene the girl is 13, then she's 6, then in the next a key character has something happen, then that person is back just fine, etc. I like folks stretching their artistic legs, but there was no point to this at all.
Other bad things...
The worst part of the movie is how the bad guys are twelve steps ahead of everyone else. There are also several subplots that don't get resolved or explained. I definitely did not understand the writing for the girl. It was very inconsistent.
Ryan Reynolds and Rosario Dawson are wasted here.
