Bay's credits include the two "Bad Boys" movies, "Pearl Harbor," "Armageddon" and "The Rock."

Goddamnit, he just killed like 90% of the population's interest in seeing this film. Those ain't flicks to be proud of.

Actually, that has made me at least curious as to what kind of movie he'd do.

Before that I was pretty much of the mind of "who gives a rat's ass".

It was gonna get a rated R...

But then Spielberg the Executive Producer made a phone call and got it rated PG-13, without any cuts.

Sheesh.

Sheesh.
Damn, I would've used that as an excuse to shove more violence into it.

Just saw the trailer on TV w\ the new Linkin Park single in the background. The desire to see that movie just declined by about 10%.

Alright. I was invited to go see this flick w\ a buddy of mine cos he knew I'd be a good barometre to tell if the flick was true to the cartoon or comics. If there were any discrepancies in the plot or something needed to be explained, that's why I was there. I really am reviewing this from the perspective of someone familiar w\ the story & characters, so I'll be a bit harsher than the average dude.

That being said, this film sucks ass on all the levels that count. All of the transformers, EVERY SINGLE ONE, was either undeveloped, underdeveloped, badly written, wasted, or just fucking useless. The closest one they come to getting right was Optimus Prime, & even he's a pale shadow of what he should be. I doubt I can give too much away w\o letting spoilers drop, but I think I may start a separate thread for that.

This film is now the new example of someone taking an existing franchise w\ a huge appeal, giving it to writers who just seem to have taken the random pop culture generator, output some shit, & stitched it together.

This film is bad on every level. You won't care about most of the characters cos they're never developed. Megatron gets virtually no screen time. Starscream is now just a jet, not the treacherous & memorable sumbitch we've all come to expect. Optimus Prime, who is supposed to be the paragon of virtue & nobility, a superb battlefield commander who can single-handedly turn the tide of a fight, & a moral compass has been reduced to a well-meaning, shallow, bumbling fucktard. When he steps on the lawn ornament & says, "Whoops. My bad," you'll know what I mean.

I did not buy a ticket to hear masturbation jokes, I did not buy it to see the Autobots pull their version of the Three Stooges, & I certainly didn't buy a ticket to see Bumblebee literally robopissing on John Tuturro. Fuck you Michael Bay. Fuck you Roberto Orci. Fuck you Alex Kurtzman. This made the 1986 cartoon seem like Sophocles. This is the most abysmal film I've seen in the theatres since I saw "The Number Twenty-Three" hungover on St. Patrick's Day.

Nothing could be as far off and offensive to the source material as Starship Troopers was.

Now I must see this to compare the outragosity.

Don't. You've been warned. Seriously. This flick is not worth the price of admission.
