Alien invasion movie by Guillermo of the Bull.

I like the rocket-assisted punch on the giant robot. It is hard to watch this trailer over this massive boner.

edit - Also GLADOS, yay.

Pick a response:

So Power Rangers for grown ups?

or

Looks like someone beat the live action Vultron movie to the market.

I wonder why they would need two pilots neural linked. Seems like an unnecessary point of failure.

Turns out that actually is the voice of GLaDOS. Same actress.

Porn has warped my mind so much that I thought this thread was about something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

"Pacific rim" as a verb. Funny.

I think it meant two pilots linked to their mechs, not to each other.

Oh, nope, I was wrong. Takes two linked pilots to pilot one mech. No idea why.

Maybe the lead designer saw conjoined twins thought they were really efficient?

Redundancy? Split the work? One does nav, one works weapon systems, they're neurally linked enough that they can coordinate?

They seem to be moving in unison, so not really splitting the work per se. *shrug*

1. the movie looks awful
2. there are two guys per mech so they can use two actors.

Awful? With giant robots and kaiju and cool special effects? No way. That's awesome!

At least it could be. I notice that the shaky-cam is relatively limited (one shot early on inside a ship being attacked by kaiju) which is a good sign. Also there were only two explosions (a crashing jet and a car on a bridge that just got smashed by a flung giant robot) and both were of a reasonable size for the situation. There seems to be a limit to the usual stupid excesses that the Michael Bay type of director is prone to.

Who knows, there might even be plot and acting!

So, I'm going to remain hopeful. For now. Even though, yeah, it will probably suck. They usually do.

Well I hope not... it will take away time from showing giant robots fighting giant monsters.

Hey, I think I heard the wife say they made a sequel to "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." You may want to look in to that.

Kind of what I was thinking. I do not go see Guillermo's flicks for their acting or interesting plots.

You are talking about Guillermo del Toro, right, director of Hell Boy and writer of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey? I'm certainly hoping for plot and acting out of him.

I didn't check out Hellboy for the plot, I checked it out for Hellboy. The plot for the other one was set in place decades earlier by someone else.
