Maybe he's just caking all his actors in slightly cleaner dirt and grit.

I think I know what is wrong with Rob Zombie movies.

He loved the old horror schlock growing up... the old 70's flicks like Burnt Offerings and The Incredible Melting Man. Movies that had an interesting and creepy idea, but were generally low budget and poorly made by barely competent filmmakers who were just looking to get another shovelware movie in the theaters as fast as they could.

And Rob is very good at emulating those movies... interesting and creepy, but poorly paced and barely competent. This flick felt like the crappy movies I was watching in the 70's. My problem is, my taste in the style and pacing of movies has evolved since then. I would suggest that maybe his movies are intended for a younger audience who would not associate them with a childhood in the 70's, but box office returns suggest that nobody liked the flick, Gen Xers nor noobies.

So.

This movie has some interesting imagery here and there, and some gratuitous ass shots of Sherri Moon, but.....

Any remake Rob gets near sucks. All his original movies have a few passably entertaining parts or concepts, but as a whole aren't good.
