Oil surges above $100 a barrel; Trump says ‘small price to pay’ for defeating Iran
$108.

Hello $4 gas.
Which increases HCl prices, and that's good news for my finances.

No matter what it is, someone is always getting rich. Might as well be my turn.

Best line I've heard in a bit came from a clip of Bill Maher talking about Iranians around the world doing the "Trump dance" to celebrate. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Now thousands of people around the world all look like they're jacking off two guys at once."

What about proving citizenship?
It’s this requirement that may be more cumbersome, regardless of whether you are or are not a citizen.

Under the SAVE Act, you would need proof of citizenship to register to vote. This could be as simple as providing your valid passport or a birth certificate – the latter would also require a photo ID, and potentially another document, if you’ve changed your name since birth.

That's retarded.

I fully get the criticism of this, and should it apply to EVERY election, I'd be right there with you condemning it because that would be fucking retarded. However, I think I'm fine with it upon your first application for a driver's license or state ID. The overwhelming majority of people are 16 then, so none of the exceptions would apply and most will have their birth certificate.

Not for nothing, but the overwhelming majority of Americans, over 85%, want ID to be mandatory at the polls.

Once you get that first ID, you should be done proving citizenship for life. A federal database should exist for ALL elections, proofed against state held ones (to assist with preventing mistakes or cheating) and when someone with your birth date, SS#, and name dies, you come off the rolls. Those rolls should get automatically changed when someone applies for a marriage license or legally changes their name. (And when convicted of a felony.) (And really you shouldn't be able to vote while receiving government assistance, but again, that's a different discussion.)

At least, that's how it should work. And I'm not saying that's how the SAVE act will make it work... It might be a shit written law, and people should blame the Rs for that.

Blame the need for proof of citizenship on the Ds. Blue states are handing out driver's licenses for free to illegals. They have fought to include them in censuses. They're giving them housing, food, and spending money for free. They're trying to make it legal for illegals to vote in local elections. They let in some 20M illegals during Biden's term. And this goes on...

Simple question: Why?

And don't say "compassion", because we all know that's horseshit. Ask the couple dozen white South Africans.

It's political power.

Here's Nick Shirley going around CA looking for voters based on their registered addresses.

Not to derail, but this is important: I think Jennifer Lawrence is probably underrated in bed.

The FDA blocked publication of research that found widely used Covid-19 and shingles vaccines were safe. The studies, which cost millions of dollars in public funds, were conducted by FDA scientists and data contractors who reviewed millions of patient records. The studies were pulled back before release. Read more: https://nyti.ms/42OAe7A

Asked about the withdrawal of the Covid vaccine safety studies, Andrew Nixon, a spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services, said in an email: “The studies were withdrawn because the authors drew broad conclusions that were not supported by the underlying data. The F.D.A. acted to protect the integrity of its scientific process and ensure that any work associated with the agency meets its high standards.”
(Not posting that to debate Catt's post. Just providing the other side of the equation.)

Generally, I think the COVID vaxes, particularly in the beginning, were mostly ineffective, but safe. Not saying they didn't help or hurt anyone, as I think they did both, but generally speaking. They certainly did not function as advertised, and that's indisputable. There's a reason most were pulled from the market under Trump and Biden...

However, I highly doubt, after 6 years, the vaxes they have out NOW are as ineffective, and I'm sure their safety levels have been vastly improved. Point being, I would tend to agree with the studies.

Also, I had no idea there was controversy around the shingles vax, but I should have because of course there is. I do know that aside from a day of feeling sore and exhausted, I'm fine.

--------------------------------------------

A related note: The scientific community has a serious reputation problem they need to address. First, they got caught lying about studies related to global warming. Multiple times. Not to mention Al Gore's stupid ass running around screaming, "the sky is falling". Then several organizations, and to be fair it was mostly their politician administrators, said transwomen are men. Including NdGT whose reputation took a major blow with that ignorant stance.

I know we've discussed it before, but studies should not hinge on who is funding the results (above or below board...). How you fix that issue, I have no idea. I do know that every time I see study results that are likely to be somewhat questionable, especially if those results affect a company's bottom line, I wonder who actually paid for the results.

To be fair, many D women have penises, so...

Jokes aside, I am VERY skeptical of that poll. Hell, I'll go so far as to say it's complete horseshit.

Even if they stuck to the most ardent MAGA cultists I don't believe they would think an 80 year old bag of jello, who almost certainly has never thrown hands in his life, could take them.

Who'd they survey? MAGA voters at a hospice?

My wife and I were debating the same. Like 1) they interviewed decrepit old people or 2) MAGA followers really buy the fit Trump memes, or some mix thereof.
