The State Department started its review in January after declaring 22 emails from Clinton's private server to be "top secret." It was suspended in April so as not to interfere with the FBI's inquiry. State Department spokesman John Kirby said the probe is restarting after the Justice Department's announcement Wednesday that it won't bring any criminal charges.

Comey pretty much said this was the DoJ's call on this, Lynch's comments not withstanding.

Actually, #1 is an inevitable consequence of our particular voting system. Think of it like a game and apply game theory. Any system like ours will eventually devolve into two parties which are both the only options available because voters are urged to never waste their vote on third-party candidates or the other guys they hate will win. It's in the best interest of the parties to cultivate a rabid base of voters they can count on for every election, which requires the party to permanently embrace some extreme viewpoints. The other party must do the same with other counter viewpoints. But both parties will still do anything and everything that the outsiders with money want them to do because they want those sweet sweet dollars. They can get away with selling out like this because there are no third-party candidates available to voters that don't do it. And so it goes.

It can only get more extreme over time. The only way to fix it is to change the voting system. Which of course would require the approval of the two main parties so that cannot happen.

We are doomed to our elections becoming more and more like Reality TV shows over time, until public interest and voter turnout have faded to almost nothing along with the power and importance of governments altogether. The era of government power is at the beginning of the end.

I still place the blame on the voters for allowing themselves to be gamed.

I'm way harder on people than inanimate objects. And besides, some research says squirrels forget where they bury 80% of their nuts. That's a hell of a success rate for acorns.

Good point. Acorns have much more power in the process they are swept up in than voters do in the U.S. electoral system.

It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.
